Ski Trip – The Piste Perspective

Our skiing story … Our ski trips are a one-of-a-kind adventure packed with learning, laughter, and lifelong memories. Skiing gives our pupils the chance to develop invaluable skills that can’t always be taught within classroom walls. From learning how to bounce back after a tumble to mastering the art of patience and perseverance, the slopes are a powerful teacher. Pupils build physical resilience, sharpen their independence, and strengthen friendships as they navigate challenges together, both on and off the mountain.

Integral Skill 1 – Creativity and Innovation:

Innovation Pupils learn to think creatively as they try new ways to move, adapt to the snow, and find fun in new experiences—both on and off the slopes.

Integral Skill 2 – Critical Thinking and Problem Solving:

Every ski run is a chance to make quick decisions, solve problems, and figure out what works. Pupils learn how to stay calm, think ahead, and makes mart choices.

Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of snow-covered peaks, students experience the sheer joy of taking risks in a safe, supportive environment, whether it’s braving a new run or simply stepping outside their comfort zone. Away from screens and school routines, they reconnect with nature, breathe in fresh mountain air, and rediscover the fun off ace-to-face friendships. Whether they’re carving down the piste, sharing stories over hot chocolate, or laughing with friends in the snow, every moment builds confidence, character, and unforgettable memories.

Integral Skill 3 – Personal Effectiveness

Skiing helps pupils become more confident, independent, and resilient. They learn to keep going even when it’s tough, support their friends, and believe in themselves. Even small daily tasks—like making their own sandwiches at lunch time—give them a real sense of independence and pride.

Integral Skill 4 – Planning and Organising

From getting their kit ready to making their packed lunches each day, pupils practise being organised and prepared—skills that help in school and everyday life.

What do you think about skiing Robin?

“I’ve managed to deal with more crowded spaces like an airport for example. I’ve also seen and done alot of new things that I feel like the young me wouldn’t try to do. Like getting up when I’ve fallen and giving it another go, going on ski lifts, zooming down mountains like a champ and many other things. It has definately built my confidence! I’m looking forward to my 5th ski trip.”

What is your favourite part of the trip and why?

“The actual skiing was my favourite part because it was sick, and I’m getting better and better every time”

What did you do when you weren’t on the slopes?

“ Sleep, eat and chill! We also went in the gaming room and had a walk around Chamonix (the town centre), Poco Loco burgers are the best!”
