Achieving our goals and looking to the stars.

This term, lower school are becoming explorers!
 
 
Their learning project on Space, Aliens and Astronauts has them looking to the stars. Pupils are exploring what it takes to become an astronaut, then research space pioneers that have inspired us. Part the exploration will also see pupils discovering their own dreams and goals and how planning carefully for success can be key towards our wellbeing.
 
 
As creators, pupils are planning are planning and developing their own space animations. They will also be design costumes for the Mars Mission. As storytellers, imagination will run wild to come up with science-fiction stories. Our mission to Mars will take some planning, so as astronauts, we’ll be developing our knowledge of the moon and gravitational forces. As investigators, we’ll see if there is any alien life in the universe.

Upper school are also in the midst of a busy term, working towards qualifications, as well as extra-curricular activities.
 
Year 11 pupils are finalising their college applications and pupils from years 9, 10 and 11 will be completing their functional skills qualifications in literacy and numeracy.
 
A number of pupils having been visiting France for the annual ski trip. Luckily, the snow didn’t let them down!
 
Back at school the curriculum is looking towards examinations for year 11 with this, their last full term in school. The year 9s and 10s are looking forward to national apprenticeships week, with a range of visitors coming into school to discuss what options are on offer in this area.
 
In RE we have an educational visit to a local Mosque and Church to enhance studies in the religions of Islam and Christianity.
 
In important news, Shaz’s Café is back up and running for those in upper school with the pupils preparing bacon butties for those in Gold reward and pupils are looking forward to range of end of term trips including Go Karting, Quad Biking and Alton Towers.
